On Saturday, 5^th November, Emma gave a short lecture on “Composing a Magnificat” for the Leiden Church Music Day. This was a study day about the Magnificat, with readings, lectures and singing.

Emma also sang as a soloist in a short performance of Bach’s Magnificat with pianist Maarten Boonstra, Con Amore choir and conductor Bernhard Touwen.

Emma’s presentation focused on the process of setting text to music. She described her personal approach to the Magnificat. A recording of her composition can be heard here, sung by the Pancras Consort with organist Geerten van de Wetering and conductor Hans Brons.
