On 28^th April, Emma Brown gave a private concert with organist Geerten van de Wetering in the Hooglandse Kerk. This was a suprise concert for the retirement dinner of three members of the church committee.

The Hooglandse Kerk has recently acquired a restored Father Willis Organ from 1892. Emma and Geerten performed a programme of well-known contralto repertoire which was popular in the early nineteenth century, including “The Lost Chord,” “The Holy City,” “Bless this House,” and “I’ll Walk Beside You.” Emma plans to record this repertoire after the organ is completed later this year.

Belgian Poet Bart Moeyaert

In order to mark their twenty year anniverary, Capella Vocale have commissioned Emma Brown to compose a new work which will be premiered in their concert in October.

The choir chose the poem Nu by the Belgian poet Bart Moeyaert. Emma has drafted this poem for a five part choir and an optional solo voice. Rehearsals will begin in May. The piece is scheduled to be performed at Capella Vocale’s jubileum concert on 8th October, 2016.
