English mezzo-soprano and composer Emma Brown sings internationally, focusing on oratorio, concerts, remembrance, and supporting NGOs. She has performed in Mongolia and Vietnam with orphans and street children for the Christina Noble Children’s Foundation, and in Nepal for the Gurkha Welfare Trust.
Nearer to home, Emma sings throughout Europe for remembrance ceremonies. In 2019, she sang in the presence of King Charles and Queen Camilla at the seventy-fifth anniversary of D-Day in Normandy. In 2018, the centenary of the armistice of the First World War, she sang the official U.S. ceremony in Belgium. She also sang during the German remembrance ceremony in the Netherlands when, for the first time, the Chief Rabbi was present.
Emma read Music at the University of Cambridge (New Hall) and moved to the Netherlands to study singing and composition at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. She has sung for the Dutch National Opera, Yo! Opera and Present Opera. She has two albums, “Echoes of War” and “Fantasia” with Floating World Records. Her repertoire spans from Gregorian Chant to contemporary composers.

English mezzo-soprano and composer Emma Brown sings internationally, focusing on oratorio, concerts, remembrance, and supporting NGOs. She has performed in Mongolia and Vietnam with orphans and street children for the Christina Noble Children’s Foundation, and in Nepal for the Gurkha Welfare Trust.
Nearer to home, Emma sings across Europe for remembrance ceremonies. In 2019, she sang in the presence of King Charles and Queen Camilla at the seventy-fifth anniversary of D-Day in Normandy, and in the presence of Princess Margriet of the Netherlands for the seventy-fifth anniversary of Operation: Market Garden and at the Merchant Navy Remembrance in Rotterdam. In 2018, the centenary of the armistice of the First World War, she sang the official U.S. ceremony at ABMC Flanders Field, Belgium. Emma also works closely with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission to help find and perform suitable music for events in France and Belgium, such as the ninetieth anniversary of the Menin Gate in 2017 and the reopening of the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing in 2023. Emma has performed with military orchestras from France, Belgium, the UK, the Republic of Ireland, the US, the Netherlands and NATO.
Emma has also sung at some historical moments of reconciliation. She was the soloist when, for the first time in history, army music corps from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland joined forces. This was for the centenary of the Ulster Tower, Northern Ireland’s national war memorial, in 2021. She sang during the German remembrance ceremony in the Netherlands when, for the first time, the Dutch Chief Rabbi was present.
Emma read Music at the University of Cambridge (New Hall) and moved to the Netherlands to study singing and composition at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. She has sung for the Dutch National Opera, Yo! Opera and Present Opera. A shoulder injury in 2017 gave her career an unexpected turn, when, no longer able to take on the physical demands of stage work, she focused instead on singing concerts, oratorios and events such as remembrance ceremonies and fundraising and awareness concerts for NGOs.
Emma’s repertoire spans from Gregorian Chant to contemporary composers. She works regularly with pianists Han Louis Meijer and Lieselotte van Tol, Hungarian guitarist Robert Sinha, tabla player Heiko Dijker, and the symphonic rock band Simple Harmonic Motion, as well as various orchestras, concert bands, and wind bands.
Emma’s oratorio experience has taken her across Europe and includes, but is by no means limited to, singing the alto or mezzo-soprano solos in Bach’s St Matthew and St John Passions, Magnificat and B Minor Mass, Duruflé’s Requiem, Jenkin’s The Armed Man, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Mozart’s Requiem, Coronation Mass, and Vespers, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solenelle and Vivaldi’s Stabat Mater, Gloria, and Magnificat.
Emma has two albums, her own Echoes of War, and Fantasia with Simple Harmonic Motion, both on Floating World Records.

Ze werkt regelmatig samen met pianisten Han Louis Meijer en Lieselotte van Tol, de Hongaarse gitarist Robert Sinha, tablaspeler Heiko Dijker en de symfonische rockband Simple Harmonic Motion, net als met verschillende orkesten en internationale militaire orkesten, waaronder de Marinierskapel van de Koninklijke Marine.
Emma’s oratoriumervaring heeft haar in heel Europa gebracht en omvat, maar is niet beperkt tot, het zingen van de alt- of mezzo-sopraan-solo’s in Bach’s Mattheus en Johannes Passies, zijn Magnificat en zijn Hohe Messe, Duruflés Requiem, Jenkins The Armed Man, Mendelssohns Elias, Mozarts Requiem, Kroningsmis en Vespers, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solenelle en Vivaldi’s Stabat Mater, Gloria en Magnificat.
