International Tattoo, Arras

On Saturday, 4th September Emma will perform as a guest soloist at the International Tattoo in Arras, France, together with the Band of Liberation and Pipes and conductor Simon Dubbelaar. The tattoo is open to the public on provision of a valid Covid certificate.

Music in Scheveningen

Emma has been invited to sing in the Bethelkerk in Scheveningen. She will sing “The Holy City,” “I’ll Walk with God,” and “How Great Thou Art” during the Sunday morning service on 25the July, accompanied by Marcel van Duyvenvoorde. The minister is Erick Versloot.

The service will be streamed online and can be viewed here.

Echoes of War

Pianist Han Louis Meijer and Emma will perform songs from their album Echoes of War at the opening of the Saturday Afternoon concert series in the Dorpskerk in Wassenaar. The programme includes songs from the First- and Second World Wars, including the songs composed by Ilse Weber when she was in Theresienstadt.

17th July, 2021, 16:00: free entrance with a collection after the concert.

The Leiden Service: Emma’s Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis live in Evensong

Emma’s Canticles were performed during choral Evensong in the Hooglandse Kerk on 13th June. This was the first live performance of them in a liturgical setting.

The Justinus Ensemble was conducted by Brian Fieldhouse, and Anton Doornhein played the organ. The minister was Arnold Vroomans.

Singing for the Dutch Military Lourdes Pilgrimage Foundation

To celebrate Pentecost, Emma joined the brass quintet of the Dutch Grenadiers and Rifles Guard Regiment to sing during Mass in “Little Lourdes” – a Dutch town dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes. She sang the plainsong Missa de Angelis, the Ave Maria attributed to Caccini, and hymns and a psalm during the Mass of the Dutch Military Lourdes Pilgrimage Foundation. Patterpod – a podcast of musicians talking about music

Alex Patterson, Director of Music at Salford Roman Catholic Cathedral, has developed a wonderful Podcast through lockdown, interviewing musicians about the music they create and the music they enjoy. Emma took part in the podcast earlier this month discussing her approach to composition and the music which has shaped and echoed her life.

Alex was formerly the Director of Music at St. Barnabas Cathedral, Nottingham, where Emma sang as a child. They met when Emma was invited to sing for the Christmas Carol Service of BBC Radio Nottingham in 2018.
